With March basketball now in full swing, announcers frequently remind us that “the loser goes home.” In this case, is that a bad thing?
Looking at the homes of Jay Wright, head coach of Villanova University, and Jim Larranaga, head coach of the University of Miami, an early exit might be a blessing in disguise! More time in their luxurious, spacious digs…
In honor of the tournament, Redfin decided to stage a fan vote of the four best coaches homes we could find – vote today and tomorrow (#3 Cuonzo Martin vs. #2 Shaka Smart) to help us decide which two coaches advance to the finals.
#4 Seed: Jay Wright, Villanova
We have Wright as an underdog in this one. A very nice house, and we love Wright’s updates to the home, but it’s in chilly Pennsylvania. Also, Wright bought the home in 2009 for $1.6M . The Redfin Estimate has the value of the home hovering at a cool $1.5 million, slightly less than Wright paid.
What do we love? The sturdy colonial manor house construction, the five acres of land, the swimming pool and the location in Radnor Hunt , known for its horses and fox hunts.
#1 Seed: Jim Larrañaga, University of Miami
Florida living has its charm. Sited next to a golf course and lake, with its own swimming pool and wet bar, Larrañaga’s home has it all. Throw in the great weather and impeccable landscaping around this home, which Coach L bought for $1.325M in 2014, and it’s currently our front runner. Strange that the home is far closer to Tampa than Miami. Coach must have a pied-a-terre he uses during the season…
Now that you’ve seen the contestants, who do you think is the winner? Vote below to see your coach advance!
